Founded in 2019, The Syllabus operates as a non-profit knowledge curation platform defending democratic access to quality information. The platform serves individual subscribers and institutional partners including think-tanks, foundations, media organizations, and companies by providing curated content feeds independent of algorithmic systems controlled by major technology corporations.

Position Overview

This role involves managing two new editorial products under The Syllabus umbrella—including a new website/platform and topic-based newsletters—with a crucial focus on researching AI technologies to improve, evolve, and streamline these editorial initiatives. The position combines editorial leadership with technical innovation.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and oversee the editorial direction of two new editorial products launching this year, ensuring alignment with The Syllabus curation guidelines and practices

- Handle curatorial and editorial matters for these new platforms, including content selection, editorial standards, and publication workflows

- Research and conduct hands-on experimentation with novel AI applications specifically aimed at improving knowledge curation, indexing, and contextualization for these editorial products

- Oversee and manage technology implementations to evolve and optimize the new products in coordination with the technology team

Requirements

- Editorial experience with digital publications or knowledge platforms

- Research experience in AI (LLMs included), particularly in media or research contexts

- At least 5+ years of post-graduate experience, either in academia or industry
