Founded in 2019, The Syllabus operates as a non-profit knowledge curation platform defending democratic access to quality information. The platform serves individual subscribers and institutional partners including think-tanks, foundations, media organizations, and companies by providing curated content feeds independent of algorithmic systems controlled by major technology corporations.
Position Overview
This role involves conducting research on various projects at The Syllabus and its parent foundation CAII, focused on their core thematic areas. The position combines research expertise with innovative approaches to methodology, including experimentation with AI tools aimed at augmenting the research process and toolkit.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research within The Syllabus's core thematic areas: political economy, climate transition, humanities, technology, or international studies
- Continuously iterate and enhance research methodologies through experimentation with novel in-house AI applications, with the aim of improving knowledge curation, indexing, and contextualization
- Bridge traditional disciplinary research with innovative technological approaches to expand The Syllabus's research capabilities
Requirements
- Demonstrated research expertise and proven interest in one or more of our core areas: political economy, climate transition, humanities, technology, or international studies
- Strong interest in experimenting with AI tools (including LLMs) as research instruments
- At least 3 years of post-graduate research experience
- Proficiency in multiple languages beyond English is not required but is definitely a plus
